In a previous blog I mentioned the positive effect that I noticed when I removed meat from my diet. Within recent months, I decided to remove chicken as well, and officially become a PESCETARIAN.
I guess that women who have fibroids already have elevated estrogen levels, hence the growth of fibroids. Thus our diets can’t contain any additional estrogen. When I stick to my diet (and yes, it is a challenge at times), I definitely notice an improvement in my monthly symptoms. This is meaningful for me because it is truly horrible to be at work or traveling, and feel miserable.
Another source of estrogen that is not often discussed, is SOY. Soy contains estrogen as well. You’d be surprised at how many foods contain soy products – soy milk, soy lecithin, soybean oil, etc. Please be sure to read the ingredients on the foods that you buy. After a few weeks without soy, again I noticed an improvement.
I definitely know that my health and quality of life would be greatly compromised without the dietary changes that I’ve introduced.
Have a great week and be well,
Sateria
